What’s New for the 2024 BMW 5 Series?
The luxurious BMW 5 Series sedan has been completely updated for the 2024 model year. These improvements extend from the interior and exterior to the features and powertrains. This midsize sedan is now wider, taller, and longer than its predecessor, which creates a roomier cabin. While it is larger than its predecessor, the 5 Series continues to show off effortless flow through its profile with a strong personality across the nose. The design boasts a chrome-outlined, kidney-style grille with flat sides and triangular molding below the adaptive LED headlights. Exterior features may include a sunroof, 18-inch wheels or larger, and a powered trunk.
Inside the 2024 5 Series, the cabin displays a sophisticated, modern style with a unique, tapered center console, LED accent lighting across the cabin, and a glass housing that holds the digital driver’s displays and the infotainment system. This display is now curved, and it features an updated iDrive 8.5 operating system. Depending on the trim selected, the 2024 BMW 5 Series could be outfitted with driver profiles, a navigation system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, simulated leather or leather seats, a dual-zone climate management system, heated seats in both rows, a Harman Kardon audio system, remote engine start, and a few other features. There are also numerous safety technologies available for the 2024 5 Series, including a surround-view camera, a drive recorder, hands-free driver’s assistance, active park distance control, a front cross-traffic alert, lane keeping, and several additional technologies.
The 2024 BMW 5 Series is now available with a new four-cylinder engine. This is a 255-horsepower, four-cylinder unit. The other powertrains are unchanged, including a 275-horsepower turbo I-6 system. A plug-in hybrid inline-six engine is also available and delivers 483 horsepower. All systems have available or standard all-wheel drive. Mechanical equipment varies by trim and could include Dynamic Handling, active roll stabilization, sport steering, and a sport suspension.
