What’s New for the 2025 BMW 5 Series?
In 2024, the BMW 5 Series entered its current generation, bringing exciting improvements to the sedan. With such significant updates made only a year ago, the 2025 BMW 5 Series is unchanged, with one notable exception.
The 550e joins the BMW 5 Series lineup in 2025. This trim level is now the top option available. Under the hood, it is outfitted with a 3.0-liter, turbo inline-six engine that mates with an electric motor. This PHEV produces 483 horsepower. Its accompanying mechanical features are all-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto transmission. The new 550 boasts a zero-to-60 time of four seconds.
The lower 5 Series trim levels continue to have the same two engines. The base engine is a four-cylinder, turbo 2.0-liter unit that generates 255 horsepower. It is available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The turbo inline-six engine has standard all-wheel drive and produces 375 horsepower.
The 2025 BMW 5 Series has a gorgeous, sleek design that expresses modern sophistication. You can appreciate the elegantly smooth surfaces and innovative wheel design from the side view. On the nose, the chrome-outlined, kidney-shaped grille sits above a short fascia that angles outward to the triangular air inlets. Some or all trims have 19-inch wheels, a sunroof, and a panoramic glass sunroof.
The base trim level of the 2025 5 Series has premium features like a wireless charging pad, a Harman Kardon sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay with Android Auto, a 14.9-inch infotainment system screen, a digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, forward collision mitigation, lane keeping and a few others. Optional packages and higher trim levels add heated seats, remote start, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, powered sunshades, voice and gesture controls, a highway assistant, and numerous other features.
