What’s New for the 2025 BMW X5?
The 2025 BMW X5 is part of the model’s fourth generation, which debuted several years ago. This midsize, two-row crossover SUV has received numerous mid-generation updates over the last few years, and it continues to evolve in 2025 with an update to its features and technologies. Specifically, the X5 is now available with the hands-free Highway Assist feature. With this technology, you can confirm your intent to change lanes by looking at the appropriate side mirror after the blinker is on.
The BMW X5 carries the same aesthetics as the 2024 X5. The design includes a tall profile with a gently rolling roof and a raked rear to optimize cargo space. Across the sides, an angled crease runs above the door contouring and accentuates the rear fender. At the front end, the BMW kidney grille is individualized by a double-bar design and slightly pointed corners. The lower fascia is also dressed up with angled, upright accent bars. The lean, tapered headlights have pointed LED designs embedded in them. The air intakes below the headlights have a tall, C-shaped design.
Three powertrains are offered for the 2025 BMW X5. These are an inline-six turbo, 375-horsepower system and a twin-turbo V8, 523-horsepower engine. In addition to these gas engines, a plug-in hybrid system is available that generates 483 total horsepower. All three systems come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Besides the new Highway Assist feature, the X5 has comparable equipment in 2024 and 2025. These features include a Bowers & Wilkins or Harman Kardon sound system, leather upholstery, automated parking assistance, emergency stop assist, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, heated seats for all passengers, a four-zone automatic climate management system, lane keeping aid, soft-close doors, remote engine start, a head-up display, gesture control for the infotainment system, 5G wireless internet, a navigation system, a 14.9-inch infotainment system screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, LED customizable ambient lights, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and more.
