Performance

The two 2024 BMW X1 trim levels offer distinct performance capabilities. The base xDrive28i is equipped with a 241-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. The M35i xDrive features a performance-tuned variation of this powertrain, generating 312 horsepower. Both are linked to a seven-speed auto, dual-clutch transmission, and all-wheel drive. The 2024 BMW X3 is also available in two trim levels. The sDrive30i boasts a 248-horsepower, turbo four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine, paired with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto transmission. The M40i comes with a V6, 3.0-liter mild-hybrid engine with 382 horsepower. This system has all-wheel drive and the same transmission.

Appearance

The X1, being the smaller of the two luxury crossovers, boasts an expressive style with a tall, gently descending roofline and crisp side contouring. The nose features an edgy look with sharp corners through the two-part grille and L-shaped air vents. The slanted headlamps also include sharply angled LED accent bars. The X3, with a flatter roofline and a linear personality line across the sides, has a more rounded two-part grille, and the large air vents follow suit. The headlights are slightly angled and include curved LED accents.

Features

Both of these smaller BMW crossovers offer access to many of the same features. They are available with a Harman Kardon sound system, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, a hands-free liftgate, a surround-view camera, lane-keeping assistance, a head-up display, a digital instrumentation screen, a drive recorder, automated parking, a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, a forward collision sensor with mitigation, a blind-spot warning, a remote vehicle monitor, a wireless internet hotspot, and wireless smartphone app integration.
