Performance
The X5 is available with three powertrains. The first two trim levels are equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine. This unit offers 375 horsepower. The more advanced gas engine is a turbo 4.4-liter, V8 unit that generates 523 horsepower. The X5 is also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a turbocharged six-cylinder engine. This system has a 39-mile all-electric range and delivers 483 horsepower.
The 2026 GLE, on the other hand, is available with six gas engine options. A plug-in hybrid option is not available. The entry-level engine is a 255-horsepower, turbo four-cylinder system. You’ll need to pay for a mid-level trim to get a GLE with a 375-horsepower, turbo six-cylinder engine.
Appearance
The 2026 BMW X5 boasts a modern, refined appearance with a tall profile and chrome accents that span the front bumper, lower door panels, and front fender trim. The nose is styled with a short, kidney-shaped grille and L-shaped air vents. The headlights are sleek and show off a pair of L-shaped LED accents. The hood is boldly defined, while the sides have smooth contouring.
The GLE, on the other hand, has an upright profile with a long, sloping hood. The sides of the GLE are uniquely designed with horizontal contouring framed by crisp accent lines. The grille tapers downward on the sides and is flanked by thick, multi-elemental LED headlights.
Features
Across all trim levels, the X5 is well-equipped with coveted features. Some of these features include a 14.9-inch infotainment display screen, a tri-zone climate control system, navigation, a Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display, contoured sport seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, hands-free liftgate, remote start, wireless hotspot, satellite radio, and other amenities.
The GLE comes equipped with features such as synthetic leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch infotainment system screen, a dual-zone climate control system, wireless phone charging, a sunroof, a power liftgate, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and several additional features.
